2018 NFL Mock Draft
-
1. Cleveland BrownsSAM DARNOLD – USC- QBSince drafting Johnny Manziel the Browns have missed on franchise QBs such as Carson Wentz, Jared Goff, Desean Watson and Derek Carr. They went out and traded for Tyrod Taylor, but the Browns can’t afford to pass on another potential franchise QB with the #1 pick.
-
2. NY GiantsSAQUON BARKLEY – Penn St.- RbBarkley is hands down the best RB in this draft class and might be the best college RB since Adrian Peterson. There are rumors the Giants could take a QB to replace Eli Manning, but I don’t see it happening in the 1st round. Instead they continue to surround Eli with talent and give him his biggest bellcow RB since Brandon Jacobs
-
3. NY JetsBAKER MAYFIELD – Oklahoma – QBNew York is the biggest media market in the world & not drafting the biggest superstar in college sports would feel like a letdown. Heisman winner Baker Mayfeild can play, but he also makes a lot of headlines. I see this situation similar to the LA Lakers drafting Lonzo Ball. The Talent is there, but the ticket sales will be even bigger.
-
4. Cleveland BrownsBRADLEY CHUBB – NC State- DEDont look now but the Browns are loaded with draft picks including 2 in the top 4. After grabbing a franchise QB with the 1st pick, I have the browns drafting Bradley Chubb to pair up with last years #1 pick Myles Garrett to form a dynamic pass rush.
-
5. Denver BroncosJOSH ALLEN – Wyoming – QBThis is the point of the draft where things get interesting. Sitting at the #5 pick with QB’s Josh Allen & Josh Rosen still on the board the broncos could be open to trade offers. The Bills & Cardinals might be two top 15 teams trying to move up into the top 5 so i’ve got the Broncos trading down or drafting the QB of the future to groom behind Case Keenum.
-
6. Indianapolis ColtsQUENTON NELSON – Notre Dame- GThe Colts are one of the least talented rosters in the entire NFL, but at least they have a franchise QB in Andrew Luck…. if he can stay healthy. Coming back from missing the entire 2017 season the colts will look to keep Luck upright by drafting the best lineman in the 2018 draft class, Quenton Nelson.
-
7. Tampa Bay BuccaneersDERWIN JAMES -Florida St. – SThe buccaneers have a young talented front seven but are looking for a playmaker in the backfield to shore up the defense. Rumors are that they have there sights locked on Derwin James.
-
8. Chicago BearsTREMAINE EDMUNDS – Virgina Tech- LBEdmunds is a freak athlete that can play all over the field from MLB to on the edge rushing the passer. The Bears need all the defensive playmaker they can get and Edmunds is the perfect all around player to build around.
-
9. San Francisco 49ersDENZEL WARD – Ohio State- CBA lot has changed over the past 2 seasons in SF with a new QB, Coach & GM, but there are still plenty of holes left on this roster. The 49ers have drafted defense heavy the past couple year and with last years 2nd round pick Rubuen Foster in leagal trouble we might see that trend continue. With Edmunds off the board i like the fit of top CB Denzel Ward to pair up with veteran Richard Sherman. On the flip side the 49ers could look to give Jimmy G a new weapon in a WR like Calvin Ridley, but I ultimately think GM Jon Lynch will stick to his defensive roots.
-
10. Oakland RaidersROQUAN SMITH – Georgia- LBThe Raiders have yet to resign MLB Navarro Bowman leaving a gaping hole in the middle of the defense. In steps Roquan Smith, the 2017 Butkus award winner was the best MLB in college football last year. Built in the mold of Luke Kuechly, I see a lot of Deion Jones in Roquan Smith with his elite sideline to sideline speed and ability to cover the entire field. If Roquan is off the board by pick 10 i still think the Raiders go defense with either Minka Fitzpatrick or Vita Vea.11. Miami Dolphins
VITA VEA -Washington State- DT
Vita Vea is a monster out of Milpitas High school that has turned into an elite D-lineman in his time at Washington State. Vea would be the perfect replacement for Ndamukong Suh.
-
12. Buffalo BillsJOSH ROSEN – UCLA- QBThe Bills need a QB. Its plain and simple. I’ve mentioned multiple times that they will be looking to trade up to snag a franchise QB, but even if the can’t they might have one fall into their lap. The latest rumors are that Josh Rosen will drop in the draft and if he drops down to number 12 the will be circling the wagons in Buffalo.
-
13. Washington Redskins
DA’RON PAYNE – DT
The Redskins have a lot of holes on the defensive side of the ball but picking at #13 they might miss out on the top defensive prospects of Ward, Edmunds, Smith & Vea all coming off the board, but the still have a chance to get the 2018 National Championship Defensive MVP Da’ron Payne.
-
14. Green Bay Packers
MINKAH FITZPATRICK – DB
Longtime Packers saftey Morgan Burnett has left and signed with the Steelers so who better to replace the long time captain than Alabama captain Minkah Fitzpatrick.
-
15. Arizona Cardinals
LAMAR JACKSON – Louisville- QB
Carson Palmer has retired this offseason and the Cardinals have signed Sam Bradford to play QB this season. Yes you read that right… Sam Bradford is still in the NFL. That alone should explain this pick. The Cardinals need a QB Franchise and if there not able to trade into the top 10, why not take a risk on Heisman winner Lamar Jackson.
-
16. Baltimore RavensCALVIN RIDLEY – Alabama- WRRavens GM Ozzie Newsome is entering his final draft and said that he wants to getJoe Flacco some weapons. Ozzie Newsome is also an Alabama Alum and has drafted a Alabama player in the 1st round for what feels like a lifetime. Id put money down that if Ridley is still on the board he will be drafted by the Ravens.
-
17. Los Angeles ChargersMIKE MCGLINCHEY – Notre Dame- OTThe Chargers are another team similar to the NY Giants with rumors of drafting a young QB to take over. If Lamar Jackson is available this could be a possible landing spot. But since I sent Lamar to the Cardinals ill do the Chargers a favor and give them a franchise left tackle to try to contain Khalil Mack for the next 10 years.
-
18. Seattle SeahawksJOSH JACKSON – Iowa- CBCan we still call Seattle the Legion of Boom without Richard Sherman? I don’t think so, but I do think the Seahawks will look to replace Sherman with Iowas top conner Josh Jackson.
-
19. Dallas CowboysCOURTLAND SUTTON -SMU- WRDez Bryant has been cut! Who is Dak going to throw to? Allen Hurns? Cole Beasley?Brice Butler? Those are nice #2 WR’s but Dak is going to need a #1 target. Courtland Sutton is a big 6’3 Redzone target that can block on the outside and would be a great fit for this offense. If the cowboys are looking for a quicker possession receiver they could also take a look at DJ Moore or Christian Kirk.
-
20. Detroit LionsDERRIUS GUICE – LSU- RBThe Lions have been looking for a running back since Barry Sanders retired. They were the worst rushing team in football last year but they can change that with the #2 RB prospect in the 2018 draft class.
-
21. Cincinnati BengalsRASHAAN EVANS – Alabama- LBThey Bengals have not only lost Vontaze Burfict due to suspension but have also lost their defensive coordinator Paul Gunther. This is a team that needs an identity on defense and that what i think Alabama LB Rashaan Evans can bring to the team.
-
22. Buffalo BillsWILL HERNANDEZ -Utep- GThe Bills have lost 3 offensive lineman this offseason. If they are able to grab their franchise QB with their 1st pick, they will have to work on keeping him upright asap! I could see the bills drafting multiple lineman in this draft.
-
23. New England PatriotsKOLTON MILLER – UCLA-OTThe Patriots lost arguably their best lineman Nate Soldier. With tom Brady approaching 40 I expect them to address the offensive line immediately.
-
24. Carolina PanthersMARCUS DAVENPORT – UTSA DEJulius Peppers has resigned to play another season in Carolina but the Panthers would be smart to groom their next pass rusher under the hall of fame DE.
-
25. Tennessee TitansHAROLD LANDRY – Boston College- EDGEOLB/DE Pass Rush specialist that can help the titans defense get after the QB.
-
26. Atlanta FalconsTAVEN BRYAN – Florida-DTDominate interior d-lineman that is drawing comparisons to JJ-Watt. Could be a drat day riser but i don’t see him falling pat the falcons at #26.
-
27. New Orleans SaintsHAYDEN HURST – South Carolina – TEThe Saints missed out on brining home JImmy Graham this offseason but if the Saints are able to draft Hayden Hurst, Drew Brees will be a happy man.
-
28. Pitsburgh SteelersLEIGHTON VANDER ESCH – Boise St.- ILBWe all saw what happened to Steelers MLB Ryan Shazier last year that has resulted in a new NFL Rule set. Shazier is still recovering and it is unknown if he will ever be able to play football again. As sad as it is, the Steelers must move forward and look for their next MLB who might be Leighton Vander Esch.
-
29. Jacksonville JaguarsCHRISTIAN KIRK – Texas A&M WRThe Jaguars lost their #1 WR Allen Robison in free agency to the Bears so I have a feeling they will try to provide Blake Bortles with another weapon to continue his progression.
-
30. Minnesota VikingsCONNOR WILLIAMS -Texas- OG
The vikings have been looking to shore up the o-line since Brett Farve was at QB, but now its Kirk Cousins leading the team and the viking will look to keep him healthy by drafting Connor Williams
-
31. New England PatriotsMason Ruddolph- Oklahoma State- QBAs I mentioned earlier Tom Brady is 40 and this draft will be centered around two things, protecting him and moving on from him. I fully expect the Patriots to draft a QB at some point in the draft and with the luxury of having two 1st round picks why not draft the top round 2 QB to groom behind Brady.
-
32. Philidelphia EaglesSONY MICHEL – RBComing off a Superbowl victory and getting their MVP caliber QB Carson Wentz back from injury, Eagles fans have a lot to be excited for. And if their able to get Sony Michel with the final pick thursday night Philly fans will be stoked. With Legarret Blount gone, Corey Clements stepped up well in the SuperBowl but Sony brings a whole new skill set that Jay Ajayi doesnt have. Coming off a SB victory this is a luxury pick to add a play maker or they could simply add depth to their dominate d-line.
